January and February council minutes

 

 

Jan. 13, 2011 Council 4528

Meeting commenced at 7:30 by Jeffery Canane

 

Last month minutes read and unanimously accepted.

 

Communications read:

We received a thank you from the Lupus Foundation for a donation.

We received for request for a transfer of a member to our council.

 

Secretary’s Report:

Secretary reported bills totaling $618.87 where paid, report was unanimously accepted.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

The treasurer reported a balance of $13,692.82. The report was unanimously accepted.

 

Standing Committee Reports:

John Benoit gave an update account of the preparation for the St. Patrick’s Day dinner dance. He also requested a check of $46.75 for the printing of the tickets that was unanimously passed.

Fran Vincent talked of preparation for the annual fishing derby.

The fishing derby cost $20 per person that includes a pasta dinner after the event, location Waite’s Pond, time 6:00am to 2:00pm and date Feb. 6, 2011.

 

New Business:

It was unanimously voted to send an application for a transfer John Shurette through proper channels.

It was voted unanimously to update the mail account to follow federal mandates to keep the cost down. It was also voted to pay $100 to the post office to prevent the mailing account from becoming over drawn.

The current web site provider account is coming due on Feb. 19, 2011. A motion was made and passed to pay $253.17 to maintain our current web site.

 A motion was made and passed unanimously to pay $300 to the ladies auxiliaries for the their work on the Christmas Party.

 

Old Business:

The council sent the necessary paper work to the state for Tom McGinn nomination for state treasure of the Knights of Columbus.

Further study is needed if we are going to get involved in installing a handrail as proposed in the last meeting.

 

The state deputy gave report on the currant conditions of the state council and what changes might occur.

 

Good of the Order:

The Leroux family donated a basket to be raffled off which raised $30.

Ed Faron paid for three Mass Cards for three deserving knight whose health has taken a turn for the worse. He suggested that the cards come from the council and that all present sign the cards, which was done.

Feb. 10, 2011 Council 4528

Meeting commenced at 7:30 by Jeffery Canane

 

Last month minutes read and unanimously accepted with one addition.

 

Communications read:

We received a thank you from Ron Jette for the Mass card we recently sent him.

We received a thank you from the Macauley Nazereth Home for Boys for our donation of jackets for the boys.

 

Secretary’s Report:

Secretary reported bills totaling $47.27 were paid, report was unanimously accepted.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

The treasurer reported a balance of $14,236.60. The report was unanimously accepted.

 

Standing Committee Reports:

John Benoit stated that due to lack of interest in the St. Patrick’s Day dinner dance that the event is now cancelled.

It was reported that because of weather problems leading to a lack of interest the fishing derby had no participation.

The tootsie roll drive is set for Columbus Day weekend.

 

New Business:

It was unanimously voted to notify the membership of the need for a transfer of $1850 form the council treasury to the board of director’s treasury to pay outstanding plowing bills for this bad winter. A vote on this issue will happen at the March meeting.

 A motion was made and passed to have a committee formed to review and update our council bylaws to make it easier to do things for the council to operate.

The Leroux family donated a basket to be raffled off which raised $31.

Ed Faron talked on the Catholic Men’s Conference to be held on March 26 at the Centrum in Worcester.
